Air Fryer Quiche Toast

A quiche tastes better when the mix-ins are sautéed first — the flavors have time to meld. Here’s how to get that same depth without actually cooking anything first.

Dried minced onion is the trick: it’s mellower and sweeter than raw onion, so it tastes pre-cooked even stirred in raw. Paired with the air fryer’s speed, a proper ham and cheese quiche toast comes together in minutes. The filling makes one or two toasts, depending on the size and thickness of your bread.

Make the Egg Mixture

In a bowl, add 1 egg, 1 tbsp heavy cream, 1 tbsp grated parmesan, 1 tbsp dried minced onion, a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Whisk until smooth and fully combined.

Add the Mix-ins

Stir in 1 slice deli ham, chopped, and 2 tbsp shredded cheddar. Mix to distribute. This makes enough filling for one or two toasts, depending on the size and thickness of your bread.

Cooked bacon works well as a swap for the ham — just make sure it’s fully cooked and crumbled first, since it won’t crisp up any further once it’s in the toast.

Press the Bread

Soft brioche or milk bread works best. Using a square shaped dish, press two bread slices and make a deep well in the center of each — this recipe yields 2 toasts.

Two slices of white bread on a metal tray, one being spread with butter and the other evenly buttered

Grease the Bread

Spread a thin layer of unsalted butter over the well so the bread doesn’t get too soggy when the filling is added.

Assemble the Toast

Spoon the quiche filling into the well and top with parsley (optional).

Cook the Toast

Air fry at 335-340°F (170°C) for 8-10 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the filling is just set.

This is a bit lower and longer than the original video (350°F, 6-7 min) for a more evenly set filling. If your air fryer runs cool, you may need an extra minute or two.

Let it rest for 1-2 minutes before serving — the filling continues to set as it cools.

Notes

  • Dried minced onion tastes pre-cooked even added raw, so there’s no need to sauté it first.
  • Cooked bacon can be swapped in for the ham — make sure it’s fully cooked and crumbled, as it will only warm through, not crisp further, in the air fryer.
  • If your air fryer runs cool, add an extra minute or two to the cook time.
