Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

This privacy policy explains what information Breakfast For One collects when you visit breakfastforone.com, how it’s used, and what choices you have.

What information we collect

Analytics data When you browse the site, analytics tools automatically collect non-identifiable information about your visit — things like which pages you viewed, how long you spent on them, what device and browser you’re using, your general location (country/region level), and how you found the site. This data is aggregated and anonymous; it doesn’t identify you personally.

Contact form If you reach out through the contact form, we collect your name and email address so we can respond to your message. We don’t use this information for anything else, and we don’t share it with third parties.

Email subscription If you subscribe to updates from Breakfast For One, we collect your first name and email address. We use this to send you new recipes, site updates, and other content related to the blog. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

Comments If you leave a comment on a post, we collect your name, email address, and website URL (if you choose to provide one), along with your IP address and the timestamp of your comment. Your name and comment are displayed publicly on the site. Your email address is not displayed publicly but is stored in our system. A cookie is also saved in your browser so your details are pre-filled the next time you comment.

Cookies Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use them for analytics, comment form convenience, and (once active) advertising. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings — though some features of the site may work less smoothly if you do.

Third-party services

Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics collects data like pages visited, time on site, and general location via cookies and tracking codes. This data is processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google Search Console We use Search Console to monitor how the site appears in Google search results. This tool provides aggregated search performance data and does not collect personal information about individual visitors.

Jetpack Stats We use Jetpack Stats (by Automattic) to track basic site traffic. Jetpack anonymizes visitor data and does not tie activity to identifiable individuals. You can learn more about how Jetpack handles data at jetpack.com/support/privacy.

Kit (formerly ConvertKit) We use Kit to manage email subscriptions and send newsletters. When you subscribe, your first name and email address are stored on Kit’s servers. Kit may also track email engagement data such as open and click rates. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email, or by contacting us directly. Learn more at kit.com/privacy-policy.

Google AdSense (not yet active — will be updated when enabled) We plan to display ads on this site through Google AdSense. When active, Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites. You can manage your ad personalization preferences at Google Ad Settings or opt out through the Network Advertising Initiative.

Akismet WordPress uses Akismet (also by Automattic) to filter comment spam. When you submit a comment, your name, email address, IP address, and comment content are sent to Akismet for spam checking. Learn more at automattic.com/privacy.

How we use your information

We use the information collected to:

  • Understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it
  • Respond to messages sent through the contact form
  • Send recipes and updates to email subscribers
  • Moderate and display comments
  • Detect and filter spam

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you.

EU and UK visitors (GDPR/UK GDPR): You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request corrections, ask for it to be deleted, and in some cases object to how it’s processed. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, request that it be deleted, and opt out of its sale (we don’t sell personal data).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@breakfastforone.com and we’ll respond as promptly as we can.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to the settings of the respective platforms (Google Analytics, Jetpack). Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry. Comment data is retained as long as the comment remains published on the site. Subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
